Player Bio

An excellent medium-pacer with all kinds of variation up his sleeve, Chris Jordan is a professional English cricketer who burst on the county circuit as an 18-year-old in 2007 when he picked up 20 wickets in five-county Championship games for Surrey. Known to be a death specialist, he is also a highly competitive batsman who can score some crucial runs for his side.

Over the years, Jordan progressed steadily in the County ranks but a freak injury did hamper him in 2010. Though at crossroads, Jordan found redemption with Sussex when Surrey released him in 2012.

Jordan debuted for England in 2014 across formats on the back of strong performances for Sussex in the County Championships. Jordan, over the years, has been established as one of the main bowlers in the English line up albeit his place in the Test format has been taken away by other impressive seamers. Having earned a place in the national side, Jordan was touted to be a good new-ball bowler but his exploits in the shortest format of the game are well-known.

Jordan was initially picked by the RCB in the 2016 Indian Premier League auction but after leaking too many runs in his 4-over quota, he was released by the Virat Kohli-led team before the 2017 auction process. SRH roped him for Rs 50 lakh but could not quite make it into the playing XI  and played only two matches in two seasons. Punjab Kings hired his services for Rs 3 crore based on his recent performances in the T20 format and he repaid them with 9 wickets in 9 matches and some sensational fielding efforts in the outfield. The Mohali-based franchise retained him for the 14th edition of the IPL.

The Barbados-born pacer has been proven very expensive with the new ball but has found his place on the back of nagging lengths and accurate yorkers at the death overs. Jordan has earned a reputation as a good bowler when asked to deliver under pressure and defending close totals. A world-class fielder, whether called upon in the slips, in the outfield, or off his own bowling, his services will be highly essential if Punjab makes the playoffs in a depleted 2021 IPL season.
