Player Bio

The son of the former England captain, Micheal Atherton, Josh De Caires is a professional English cricketer for Middlesex. A talented top-order batsman, Josh first represented Middlesex at the U-14 level, hitting an unbeaten 90 against Essex in 2015. He made his second XI debut in 2017 at the age of 15 and scored a century against Hampshire in 2019.

Prior to the start of the 2020 season, the youngster signed a three-year rookie contract with Middlesex which will see the academy product remain with the county through his university studies till the end of the 2023 season.

Josh featured during the first team’s preseason preparation for the County Championship taking part in a few friendly matches before making his first senior debut against Gloucestershire on July 5th, 2021.

A highly-rated batsman, the teenager is a stylish top-order batsman with all the shots in his book. Still, at a development stage, he would hope to get more first-team matches under his belt to prove his significance to the coach and the skipper.
