Bio
A product of Leicestershire County Club, Sam Evans is a right-handed top-order batsman who joined Leicestershire in 2017 on a summer contract basis when he was still a student.
He made a stunning 114 against Northants, in just his second first-class game for Loughborough MCCU.
Evans signed a new deal with Leicestershire in 2019 but struggled to break into the first team XI. However in 2021, things suddenly clicked and Evans scored hundreds in three successive Championship matches against Surrey, Gloucestershire and Surrey again to cement his place in the Leicestershire playing XI.
A gutsy opening batsman who believes in grinding out in the middle, Evans has vastly improved his game ever since his move to Leicester. However, in his initial days at the County level, Evans struggled with the short-pitched deliveries, and it was well exploited by the opposition bowlers.
