Bio
An elegant left-handed top-order batsman, Hasan Azad is a professional cricketer who plays for Leicestershire. Azad rose to prominence in the 2019 domestic season for Leicester, finishing at the top of scoring charts in Division Two.
Born in Quetta, Azad moved to England at the age of 15. He joined Nottinghamshire academy on his arrival, but the runs dried up for him and the batter was released at the end of 2014.
Azad trained under the watchful eyes of the MCCU coach, Russel Cobb. Cobb helped Azad to improve his batting technique and it did wonders for the southpaw. Azad piled up runs for MCCU and as a result, signed a deal with Leicestershire County Club in 2019.
He immediately made his presence felt in the first team, scoring a brisk hundred against MCCU in April 2019, and went on to play every game in the Championship that season. In August 2019, Azad was rewarded for his good performance with a two-year contract extension with the club.
An obdurate opening batter, Azad struggled a lot in his initial days, but the southpaw worked hard on his technique and came back strongly in the 2019 domestic season for the Foxes.
