Lahiru's Bio

An exciting all-rounder, Lahiru Samarakoon is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer who is known to swing the ball both ways and is a handy lower-order batsman. The allrounder has made a huge impression in the domestic circuit and has subsequently earned Sri Lankan U-19, Board President XI, and Emerging Players' honours in recent years.

After making his List A debut in December 2015, he had to nearly wait for a year to make his first-class debut. Samarakoon has over 100 domestic wickets across all formats and has also revamped his batting style to score tons of important runs batting lower down the order.

A high-class prospect, the Kandy-born allrounder has also proved himself in the English conditions during two UK stints in 2018 and 2019. Samarakoon was the star man for the Sri Lankan XI side against touring England when he picked up the massive wickets of Jos Buttler, Zak Crawley and Chris Woakes in 2020. The 24-year old is really someone for the future and has proved his worth on multiple occasions that he can be a prospect to lead the Sri Lankan team in the upcoming years.
