Player Bio

Himesh Ramanayake is an England-born Sri Lanka-based cricketer. He is a product of Colombo’s Royal College, he has also represented Sri Lanka at the U-19 level. Ramanayake is a right-arm fast-bowler by craft, who plays for Sinhalese Sports Club domestically and was part of the Colombo Kings in the Lanka Premier League.

The pacer is the son of Sri Lanka international Champaka Ramanayake and brother to another budding cricketer, which makes it obvious that he comes from a sporting background. Born in Manchester, he donned the Sri Lanka U-19 jersey during the 2014-15 season.

The Manchester-born’s First-Class debut came in 2017 when he played for Burgher Recreation Club. He made his T20 debut in the 2017–18 SLC Twenty20 Tournament and received his maiden List A cap, later that season. He has played for various clubs ranging from Sinhalese Sports Club, Sri Lanka Army Sports Club, et al.

As of August 2021, the seamer has played 18 FC games to bag 35 wickets at 28.5, including his best of 5 for 29. He has also played around 50 limited-overs where he has showcased his abilities with the white ball as well. A bit of polishing and nurturing by Sri Lanka Cricket can make Ramanayake a quality bowler for the highest level.
