Player Bio

Matthew Revis is a top-order batter and also a right-arm seamer for Yorkshire. Born in Steeton, the budding all-rounder idolizes Andrew Flintoff and wants to be like the English former, one day. Revis is a product of the England Young Lions training programme and has come through Yorkshire’s age-group ranks.

Revis was educated at Ilkley Grammar School, while his cricketing journey began at Sedbergh School. Through the grassroot levels, the all-rounder found his way up to Yorkshire CCC. He first wore the White Rose jersey in U-14s in 2015, and has played for the Under 15s and Under 17s for the county.

The youngster made Yorkshire Academy debut in 2018, before making his second team debut in Twenty20 cricket, that year. He then debuted for Yorkshire CCC during the 2019 County Championship, when he represented the First XI in the match against Kent. While the Steeton-born played a couple more T20 matches in the next year’s T20 Blast. Later in 2020-21, Revis spent a good time with the England Young Lions training programme down at Loughborough, where he was mentored by Andrew Gale and Rich Pyrah.

At 19, the youngster has shown glimpses of brilliance in this short span. If Revis’ county and England cricket invests well in the all-rounder, he has the ingredients to be the flagbearer for his country.
