Player Bio

A young, locally produced cricketer, Samuel Conners is a professional English cricketer who plays for Derbyshire in the Championship. Born in Nottingham, Conners is a George Spencer Academy alma-mater who also featured for the U-19 England team against South Africa in March 2019.

Conners made his first-class debut against Leeds on March 25th, 2019, and scalped three wickets on his debut. Conners made the most of his opportunities in 2020 with the absence of several senior bowlers and ended the summer having played 16 all formats matches in which he took 19 wickets.

It was with the bat, however, that he produced one of his best performances in 2020, scoring five not out in a last-wicket partnership of 80 with Leus du Plooy in the thrilling win against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge. In April 2021, Conner demolished Durham’s top and middle-order and took his maiden five-wicket haul ending the innings with a figure of 5/83 in the 2021 County Championship.

With a strong, repeatable action, and an appetite for bowling, Conners looks to have a fine future ahead of him as an opening bowler.
