Player Bio

An ever-reliable wicketkeeper-batsman, Gareth Roderick is an established first-class cricketer for Gloucestershire County. The South African-born cricketer made his first-class debut for Kwazulu Natal in 2011 and then joined Gloucestershire in the summer of 2012 and later joined Worcestershire in 2020.

Roderick made his County first-class debut in May 2012 and his debut season was a perfect announcement on the domestic stage, making two centuries and a match-saving 152 unbeaten against Kent.

Like most modern players, he is well suited to all formats and wants to improve his limited-overs cricket as well. Roderick was a part of the side that won the 2015 Royal London Cup and in a career span of eight years for the Gloucs, he featured for them in over 150 matches in all formats. Roderick’s place in the side came under pressure last year due to the emergence of James Bracey, who was the club’s long-time plan.

The Maritzburg college alma-mater decided to leave the club and joined Worcestershire in a three-year deal. Roderick will likely start as a second-choice wicketkeeper at the club behind Ben Cox but will compete as a specialist batsman in the County Championship.
