Bio
Hailing from Buckinghamshire, Tom Alsop is a professional English cricketer for Hampshire. A product of Hampshire Cricket Academy, he is an efficient gloveman and a decent middle-order batsman who has impressed heavily with Hampshire’s youth system.
After a string of impressive performances with the bat and behind the stumps for the second XI also a successful spell with the England U19s, Alsop made his first-class debut in Hampshire's penultimate match of the 2014 season against Kent.
Despite limited first-team opportunities throughout 2016 and 2017, Alsop bounced back with some strong performances in 2018 and averaged over 50 in List A cricket, contributing to Hampshire’s first white-ball trophy in six years. He enjoyed another decent few seasons with Hampshire and struck his career-best knock of 150 with the bat in a County Championship fixture against Warwickshire.
Having cemented his spot in Hampshire’s white-ball team, Alsop was an ever-present fixture in Hampshire’s line-up in both the Bob Willis Trophy and Vitality Blast competitions and will be hoping to cement his place in the County’s red-ball team in the upcoming years.
