Player Bio

Touted as the future of Durham and England cricket, Paul Coughlin is an English cricketer who plays for Durham County Club.

Coughlin controversially left Durham ahead of the 2018 domestic season and joined fellow county club Nottinghamshire. It came as a bitter blow to Durham as they had nurtured the youngster and had shown faith by naming him as captain at a very young age.

A right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pacer, Coughlin’s breakout season came in the 2017 Natwest T20 Blast, where he ended up scoring 333 runs at an average of 41 and also registered 13 wickets which earned him a place in the England Lions squad for a training camp in Australia.

However, in 2019, the all-rounder re-signed with Durham after his two-year injury stint with Nottinghamshire. He struggled for fitness and injuries that hampered his career with Nottinghamshire and as a result, the club decided to part ways with Coughlin.

One of the most promising and exciting young talents produced in English county, Coughlin started on a positive note, but injuries have derailed his domestic career. Coughlin still has time to rejuvenate his career despite missing a large chunk of his career in the past three seasons.
