Player Bio

An aggressive right-handed wicket-keeper batter, Vishnu Vinod is a professional cricketer who represents the Kerala state team.

The young batter not only opens the innings for his side but is also capable of batting lower down the order.

Vishnu grabbed the eyeballs with his consistent performance in the 2014-15 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he made his debut against Karnataka on April 3, 2014. He scored 33 runs in his debut game, which led to Kerala's victory in a close contest.

During the 2017 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), he was brought in by Royal Challengers Bangalore as a replacement for the injured KL Rahul.

Vishnu scored just 9 runs on his IPL debut against Delhi Daredevils. In his debut season, he played only 3 matches and scored just 19 runs. He was released by the franchise after a horror season and pushed back to the domestic circuit.

Vishnu Vinod came into the limelight once again after a spectacular 2019-20 Vijay Hazare Trophy, scoring 508 runs in eight matches and was the highest run-getter for Kerala in that tournament. His impressive run in the Vijay Hazare Trophy caught the eyes of multiple franchises yet again. The Thiruvalla-born batter was bought by the Delhi Capitals for a base price of INR 20 lakh in the auctions of IPL 2021.

After consistently delivering for Kerala in domestic cricket, he was roped in by Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2023 auction. He played his first IPL game since 2017 against Gujarat Titans and scored a quick-fire 30. He failed to impress later in the tournament and played only three matches in total.

He was Kerala's top scorer in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Ali Trophy 2023. He scored 362 runs in eight innings, including a century.

He has been retained by Mumbai Indians for IPL 2024.

Being a naturally aggressive batter, Vishnu needs to improve to get a place in the overpowered Mumbai Indians lineup. Sharing the dressing room alongside Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya, he will look to make the most of any opportunity he gets.
