Player Bio

Mainly a red-ball cricketer, Sam Robson is an English professional cricketer who has been a great servant to Middlesex over the past decade. Born in Sydney, Robson rose through the ranks in the New South Wales set-up playing U-17 and U-19 for them.

Trying to explore himself in new avenues, he made a tough call to move to England and started off with Middlesex for the second XI after representing Australia in the U-19s. After a few fruitful county seasons in the early 2010s, Robson was called up to the national squad in the absence of Johnathon Trott and Kevin Pietersen.

The Sydney-born batsman made his Test debut against Sri Lanka at Lords on June 12th, 2016. It took just one Test for the youngster to stamp his authority as he struck a confident 127 at Headingley in only his second game. Robson was dropped from the England national squad soon due to the lack of consistency.

Robson returned back to the English domestic circuit and started his grind once again. He became a legend for Middlesex, notching up over 10000 first-class runs. The opening batsman tasted success in white-ball cricket as well last year, scoring a century as he made his return to the Royal London One-Day Cup.

Robson has the ability to carve out runs in difficult situations make him an invaluable asset to the first XI. The 32-year old isn’t a delightful watch with flashy strokes but with a strong defence and good temperament, Robson is an endorsement for young players to pursue a long form of the game.
