Player Bio

An explosive hard-hitting batsman and a handy off-spinner, Tom de Grooth is a professional cricketer for the Dutch national team who made his first-class debut against Scotland on June 11th, 2014.

Tom made his international debut two years later against the same opponents in August 2006 and ended up with the highest score for his team, striking 32 runs in a horrific defeat. The Hague-born shot to fame after a famous victory against England in June 2009. He played the innings of his life to hit 49 off 30 balls and the Netherlands paced their pursuit of 163.

In a career spanning over 7 years, Tom featured for his nation in 49 international games and due to lack of consistency, he was dropped from the side in August 2013. Having yet to make his comeback, it has been over eight years since he has played competitive cricket. At the age of 41, he is unlikely to feature in any match either internationally or domestically.
