Player Bio

An aggressive left-handed opening batsman, Sharjeel Khan made his first class debut for Hyderabad against Islamabad in 2009. He had a mediocre start to his career, but gradually progressed well to finish his maiden domestic season with 800 runs.

He made his ODI and T20I debut in a limited overs series against Sri Lanka in 2013. In his very first ODI innings, Sharjeel showed his attacking prowess by taking on the Sri Lankan new ball attack as he raced away to a run-a-ball 61, which eventually helped Pakistan to a crucial victory.

However, post his debut series, Sharjeel struggled to keep up with the pace at the international level and was not giving performances which were expected of him.

Sharjeel was drafted in the Pakistan squad for the 2016 ICC World T20, and the Hyderabad born was the leading run-getter for Pakistan in the tournament, amassing 112 runs, at a strike rate of 143.

In 2017, Sharjeel was provisionally suspended under the Anti-Corruption Code of the PCB, for his involvement in spot fixing. He missed the 2018 and 2019 season of PSL, but was drafted in the Karachi Kings squad ahead of the sixth season of the PSL.

A talented left handed batsman, who was once touted as the future of Pakistani batting lineup, Sharjeel has spoiled his own career by taking the bitter route. A T20 specialist by profession, Sharjeel has to work on his running between the wickets, in order to survive at the international level.
