Player Bio

A 6-foot 7-inch tall bowler - Steven Finn emerged as England’s answer to all the problems in the white-ball formats. Finn came in as a young prodigy to become the youngest cricketer to make a debut for Middlesex, at the age of 16.

He debuted for Middlesex in 2005. The Hertfordshire-born made his List-A debut in 2007 and till the following year, he became an integral cog of the Middlesex bowling crew. The pacer’s breakthrough moment occurred during the 2009 season where he ended with 53 Championship wickets at 30.64.

A national call-up was never too far, and injuries to Stuart Broad, Ryan Sidebottom, and Graham Onions meant Finn getting his England cap during the Chattogram Test against Bangladesh in 2010. The pacer earned quite a name during his third Test and scalped figures of 9 for 187 at Lord’s. It followed up with an astonishing home series against Pakistan and Ashes Down Under.

He made debut in both white-ball formats in 2011. Later that season, Finn was named in the World Cup squad and was also part of the World T20  in 2012. After being involved in the 2013 Champions Trophy, the lanky pacer was dropped during the Ashes.

He was again recalled for the ODI series against India in 2014 and then was named in the squad of Ashes in 2015, but later was ruled out due to a torn left knee cartilage. Finn was also part of the touring party for the 50-over World Cup in 2015.

Post the World Cup, the Hertfordshire-born has seen a real point in international career. Since the multinational tournament, Finn has only played a handful of series across all formats. With the emergence of Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, and Chris Woakes, doors have almost been shut for Steven Finn.
