Player Bio

Born in Keighley, George Hill is a bright young prospect for the Yorkshire County squad. A locally produced talent, Hill represented Yorkshire at Under 14s, 15s, 16s, and 17s as well as the club’s Academy side and their second team.

Hill broke through in the year 2020 to prove he can mix it at first-team level having already helped England Under 19s claim some silverware in the one-day World Cup in South Africa. Hill took advantage of the unavailability of more senior White Rose players to play two Bob Willis Trophy and four Vitality Blast fixtures.

At the start of the year, he was England’s vice-captain at the South African World Cup, where they won the Plate title, effectively ranking them as the best of the teams not to qualify out of the group stage. At just 20 years of age, Hill produced eye-catching performances of 90 with the bat in a win over Sri Lanka having already taken 4-12 in victory over Nigeria.

Hill signed his maiden professional contract at Emerald Headingley in June 2019 and made his senior debut in the Championship against Derbyshire on August 15th, 2020, and also featured in the T20 Blast against the same opponents two weeks later.
