Player Bio

A limited-overs specialist, David Delany is a professional Irish cricketer and one of the brightest, young prospects currently in the squad.

Delany made his T20 cricket debut for Munster Reds in the 2017 Inter-Provincial Trophy on June 16th, 2017 and immediately made an impact with his raw pace troubling the batsmen. Three months later, he was included in the first team of  Leinster Lightning and made his first-class debut in the 2017 Inter-Provincial Championship on September 5th, 2017.

On the back of an impressive debut, he was included in the Irish senior team for the limited-overs series against Afghanistan but did not get an opportunity to play. After travelling with the national squad for over a year, Delany made his debut against Scotland in the 2019 T20 World Cup Qualifiers on September 17th, 2019. A good outing for the youngster as he managed to scalp two wickets and also bowled economically in a high-scoring contest.

His perseverance earned him his first full-time contract from the Irish Cricket Board in October 2022. On the ropes of making his ODI debut against Afghanistan in UAE, Delany suffered from a knee injury which ruled him out of the squad for a couple of months.
