Go check his Instagram and you will see that Chris Gayle is painting the town red. Tabraiz Shamsi and Fabian Allen have failed to reach Trinidad on time. Alex Hales and Marcus Stoinis have withdrawn from the CPL and the fear of contracting the novel coronavirus is proving too hot to handle.

There's no room anymore for the chest-bump celebration. None for partying till dawn. Neither is there for jampacked crowds who scream their throat hoarse. The T20 extravaganza has kicked off in West Indies, minus the glamour quotient.

Though if there's something that could make up for the lack of flavour, it's high-octane on-field action. And Barbados Tridents locking horns with St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots promises much.

The guile of Rashid Khan versus the might of Chris Lynn. Corey Anderson's slog-sweep pitted against Ish Sodhi's wrong' un. Expect nothing short of fireworks as the defending champions take on the perennial underdog.

Match Details

Date: 19 August, Wednesday

Time: 3:00 am IST

Venue: Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad

Barbados Tridents

Their batting arsenal oozes firepower and tenacity, with a decent dollop of silken touch. Johnson Charles, when on song, can belittle the greatest of attacks with muscular strikes transcending the realms of human possibility. Shai Hope and Shamarh Brooks are well equipped to play sheet anchor, enabler, or aggressor, keeping in mind the situation's demand. The imperial ball-striking prowess of Corey Anderson and Mitchell Santner holds their batting depth in fine fettle.

The pace stocks look formidable in Jason Holder, Raymon Reifer, and Keon Harding. The phenomenon that is Rashid will have the likes of Santner, Hayden Walsh Jr, and Ashley Nurse for support to put the brakes on the scoring rate during the middle-overs.

Predicted XI

Johnson Charles, Shai Hope, Shamarh Brooks, Corey Anderson, Jonathan Carter, Ashley Nurse, Jason Holder, Mitchell Santner, Rashid Khan, Raymon Reifer, Hayden Walsh Jr

St Kitts & Nevis Patriots

Lynn and Evin Lewis blazing in unison would spell doom for oppositions. They have a pocket dynamite in Joshua de Silva raring to explode. However, the fact that Ben Dunk and Denesh Ramdin blow hot and cold might thrust unnecessary weight on the young shoulders of de Silva.

Sheldon Cottrell, skipper Rayad Emrit, and Alzarri Joseph lend the pace battery some real venom. Sohail Tanvir's variety will be central to their death operation. The dynamic all-rounder, Fabian Allen, being ruled out of participation means that Ish Sodhi will have to do the heavy lifting in the spin compartment.

Predicted XI

Chris Lynn, Evin Lewis, Joshua da Silva, Denesh Ramdin, Ben Dunk, Imran Khan, Rayad Emrit, Sohail Tanvir, Ish Sodhi, Sheldon Cottrell, Dominic Drakes

Match Prediction

Courtesy their optimised squad balance, Barbados Tridents would definitely start as hot favourites. The sheer confidence of having lifted the trophy in the previous season would also work enormously in their favour.
