Rohit Sharma has surpassed MS Dhoni as the leading six-hitter Indian batsman in the Indian Premier League. He achieved the milestone when he hit a short ball from Bhuvneshwar Kumar over midwicket for six in the game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai.
Dhoni has hit 216 sixes across the 14-year-long history of the IPL and Rohit has gone past the Chennai Super Kings skipper with 217 sixes.
But, he could not extend his innings for a longer period of time and was dismissed by Vijay Shankar on 32.
Rohit and MS Dhoni have also been the two most successful captains in the history of the IPL with the former leading the Mumbai Indians to four IPL titles and MS Dhoni leading the Super Kings to the championship on three occasions.
Rohit has also been one of the most prolific run-scorer of the cash-rich league and has amassed more than 5,300 runs after making his debut in the inaugural edition in 2008.
He has piled on 39 fifties and one century in IPL and has hit 217 sixes along with 464 boundaries until now.
