SMAT 2021: Assam shock Bengal by 13 runs

The highly-anticipated clash between two sides of the Indian team— India and India A has been cancelled as the ECB has postponed the India A tour of England scheduled for later this year.
As per a Reuters report, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) shifted the date of the tour citing Covid-19 restrictions likely to be in place in the country when the tour is scheduled.
India A were to take on the England Lions before fighting out against the senior Indian team under the leadership of Virat Kohli. The Indian selection committee were to pick squads for the game later this year.
However, in the wake of the postponement of the India A tour to England, they will instead pick a large squad that will allow the team to prepare for a five-match Test series against England with two intra-squad matches, the report added.
“We look forward to welcoming a men’s India A tour at a later date after this summer and when restrictions have eased,” ECB chief executive officer Tom Harrison said in a statement.
Notably, India will be travelling to England for the World Test Championship Final against New Zealand, scheduled to be played from June 18 in Southampton.
