Delhi Capitals were forced to bring in another replacement just ahead of the start of the 2021 Indian Premier League. Tamil Nadu spinner Manimaran Siddharth has been ruled out due to injury and in his place, Delhi’s left-arm pacer Kulwant Khejroliya has been roped in as a replacement.
The left-arm orthodox bowler Siddharth was signed in the mini-auction after a brilliant showing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The 23-year-old incurred a quadriceps strain during training in Dubai, the Capitals website informed.
Khejroliya, who has so far placed 14 First Class, 27 List A and 15 T20s and picked up 106 scalps in those games is already part of the Delhi Capitals team bio-bubble as a net bowler.
Earlier the 29-year-old represented Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2018 and IPL 2019 seasons, taking 3 wickets in 5 IPL matches.
“The Delhi Capitals support staff is currently overlooking Manimaran Siddharth's rehabilitation programme in Dubai. He will be heading back to India in a few days where he will continue to undergo rehabilitation. The Delhi Capitals franchise wishes him a speedy recovery,” Capitals said in a release on their website.
The Capitals currently stand at number one on the Points Table and would be looking to consolidate the position when they face Sunrisers Hyderabad in their first match in the UAE leg of the IPL.
