The Indian Premier League 2022 will be held in Mumbai across three stadiums in the city and if possible, Pune could most likely be utilised as well. If reports are to be believed, the tournament is likely to kick off from March 27, 2022.

“IPL 2022 will be held in India without a crowd. Likely venues are Wankhede Stadium, Cricket Club of India (CCI), DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai & Pune if needed,” ANI quoted top sources in BCCI as saying.

The 2022 edition of the tournament will see 10 teams competing for the title instead of eight for the first time ever since 2011 when Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Pune Warriors India were included in the IPL. However, these teams could not sustain themselves and hence were removed.

This time around, two new franchises from Lucknow and Ahmedabad have been included in the IPL. All the teams were allowed to retain at the max four players with the new teams allowed to sign at a maximum of only three players. The rest of the players will go under the hammer in the mega auction scheduled to take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru.
